About Us

November 2006

.

To our friends & family:  With the help of this web site, we will try to keep you all informed as to where we are and what we are doing. We plan to share some of our joy, experiences, pictures, and problems as we travel through this great land of ours. Bear with us as we are learning to create this web site and have a lot to learn. A special thanks to my son Rob for his patience and his expertise in this field. The front cover of this site is his work. The view across the page is the view of Lake Erie as seen from the deck of our home in Erie. Thanks again Rob. You do great work!

For the few of you who may stumble across this web site and not know us, we will introduce ourselves. We are Ron & Jimi, formerly of Erie PA. Ron was the manager of a lumber yard for 35 years. Then he started his own business "Out Of The Woods" custom woodworking.  I was involved in the restaurant business. I was a manager for several years and then just worked part time as a food server.  We each have two children. My daughter Debbie is married to Todd and they have two children. Abi 16 and Ian 14. My Son Rob is married to Laura and they have three children. Dylan 14, Kathlyn 10 and Shane 9.  Both these families live near Hershey, PA.  Ron's children both live in the Pittsburgh area. His daughter Pam is married to Lou and they have two daughters, Logan 4 and Chase 2. His son John is married to Jeanne and they have two children. Alaina 5 and Luke 3.

We have a 2001, 32' Winnebago Adventurer. We have enjoyed traveling in our motor home, seeing new places and meeting new people.  We plan to travel for a few years and then settle down somewhere closer to our children. Our dream is to build a log cabin somewhere between Hershey & Pittsburgh and possibly a little further south.  Southern PA. or northern Maryland or West Virginia. Somewhere out of the cold nasty winters we get in Erie.

Last fall, we made the decision to sell our home and start traveling in our motor home, full time. We spent the winter planning, analyzing, and learning. Taking the advice of some friends, we decided to try to sell the house without going through a real estate agent. We put an ad in the Erie Times and had many people walk through and had some offers but none we would accept. After three weeks, we decided to try one more time. We agreed that if it didn't sell this time, we would turn it over to a realtor. We put the ad in the paper on July 15th, and the first people to call that morning bought the house. Things started happening so fast our heads were spinning! Over the next three weeks, I gave notice at the restaurant and worked a few days to bid farewell to some good friends and customers; Ron tore down his work shop and put his tools in storage; We stored some of our furniture, advertised and sold some of the larger remaining items and had a garage sale to sell the rest. We had the closing on the house on Friday, August 11 2006.
